Our Story

“It started with two girl bunnies who turned out to not both be girls.”

What began as a simple misunderstanding of rabbit biology quickly spiralled into a profound fascination with genetics.

Before I knew it, I wasn't just caring for a surprise litter. I was immersed in the complex, beautiful science of breeding, seeking to understand the heritage and health of every generation.

But life has its own rhythms. As my family grew, I realised I needed to step back. The breeding paused, but the passion never waned.

It is in my second era of breeding that I have developed a real fascination with both rabbit genetics and bunny behaviour, and that has changed how we raise every litter.

The Daily Magic. Every morning at Saltbush, something special happens. Our bunnies don't just get fed — they get loved. Each one is handled, cuddled, and talked to. When I'm not cuddling bunnies (which is most of my day!), you'll find me:

• Perfecting Systems. I'm slightly obsessed with creating better ways to track genetics, health, and outcomes — all in service of healthier, happier bunnies.

• Continuous Learning. Rabbit care and genetics are constantly evolving. I'm always reading, researching, and connecting with other passionate breeders.

• Living the Values. Everything I recommend to families, I live myself. My own bunnies have daily enrichment and rotating play areas, a few enjoy special free-roaming privileges, and they play with the other furry members of our family.

• Tasmania Life. I can't imagine raising bunnies anywhere else.
